After a 10 year hiatus from releasing music, Shannon Jae Ridout returns in true form with Two Busted Boots And A Broken Heart. 10 songs of stripped down introspective melancholy, laid against somber guitar backing.

“Two Busted Boots and A Broken Heart” is a collection of songs written while traveling
the United States between 2011-2016. Recorded at Third Coast Studios, in New Orleans, LA by Justin Dye in January of 2021 and mastered by Dan Emery at Black Matter Mastering in Nashville, TN. These songs are a window into, and a reflection of Ridout’s life experiences during those years. With raw, at times chilling vocals, she explores themes of love, loss, longing, grief, addiction and mental health struggles. With visceral imagery, hard hitting honesty and poetic lyrics, she has a way of making the listener feel as if she’s right there with them, in musical mourning. 

The artwork for “Two Busted Boots and A Broken Heart” was done by Bobby Ditrani, and is a tribute to her steadfast and beloved canine companion, Wesson, whom Ridout had to say farewell to in June of 2025 shortly after his 14th birthday. She, along with anyone who knows her even slightly well, knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that she would not be alive today if not for Wesson’s love and loyalty.
